“SANT’EUSTACHIO IL CAFFÈ” coffee bar
Located in the heart of Rome, close to Piazza Navona, “Sant’Eustachio il Caffè” is one of the oldest coffee bars in Italy. The coffee there is processed the old-fashioned way, using traditional techniques handed down over the years.
Sant’Eustachio coffee is made with the finest 100% Arabica coffee beans, which are scrupulously selected by small producers in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Brazil, Galapagos Islands and in the Island of Saint Helena.
Once imported, each variety of coffee is slowly wood-roasted to highlight the qualities of every single bean. This coffee, compared to the other coffees around the world, has a very low caffeine content (only 1.18%).
Moreover, its low caffeine content is a sign of top quality and helps to eliminate the common coffee side effects, such as heartburn, headache and insomnia.
Not everyone knows that, in 1996, a French tourist, Eric Favre, when tasting Sant’Eustachio coffee asked the barista how he could have made such a good coffee. The answer was “I only pressed a button”, it inspired him and he created one of the most famous coffee machines in the world: the Nespresso coffee machine.
