Nestled in the Apulian plains, L’Ape nell’Orto beekeeping company was founded in 2016 in Altamura by Filippo Ragone and his passion for his land, nature and bees.
The company’s aim is to create a harmonious connection between agriculture and beekeeping, so as to ensure high quality products obtained with due regard for animal welfare. Bee families are carefully selected and treated by beekeepers in extensive farming.
The result is a 100% natural honey, cold-processed and not chemically treated. Before being sold, it is left to mature for a period of time ranging from 20 to 30 days to reach the right consistency.
The company’s honey varieties have been awarded in the prestigious national competition Premio Giulio Piana: “3 drops of gold” for Honeydew Honey, who won the title of the best Italian honey in its category, and “two drops of gold” for Spring Wildflower Honey and Clover Honey.
The thyme honey is one of the most aromatic products of the company, perfect for those who appreciate refined tastes. Produced in the province of Matera, it has a light amber color and a slow crystallization. The thyme gives the honey a particularly intense and floral fragrance, with a spicy and fruity aroma. The taste is slightly sweet and the aftertaste is acidic, therefore this honey is ideal in combination with marinades, cold cuts and spicy aged cheeses.
